Learn the methods of psychological work in existential analysis and master the phenomenological approach to reach a new professional level!

Your dream of learning from the world psychotherapy legend is coming true!

This practical course on psychological counseling within the existential analysis will be taught by the founder of the said approach, the Austrian psychotherapist Alfried Laengle and his followers.

Alfried Laengle

Psychotherapist, MD and PhD, successor of Viktor Frankl, who developed a new branch of psychotherapy — existential analysis, based on the theory and practice of logotherapy.

In the video, Alfried describes in detail what you will get from participating in his one-year program!

This course unites Russian- and English-speaking colleagues from all over the world to help us gain support in times of utmost insecurity

What makes this program unique?

You are going to be a part of the therapeutic process

and you will also learn by watching the work of a famous professional who is known all over the world – Alfried Laengle.

Practice is a significant part of the course.

You cannot complete the course simply by reading the books, because the whole program is based on the Phenomenological approach. Observe the practice you will better understand the content of the method

You will learn effective ways of working

with such subjects as depression, anxiety, uncertainty, guilt, difficulties in relationships, crises, paralysis of will, loss of purpose, and others.

The essential mission of the course is to master the phenomenological method. Phenomenology involves an open and interested, respectful and unsuspecting perspective on the individual as a free and unique one (Person). This is when a therapist puts aside prior knowledge, assumptions, and theories in order to focus on the content of whatever they are examining.

All high achieving psychotherapists are great phenomenologists, regardless of the approach in which they work.

This Course Is Suitable For:

Consulting psychotherapists,

who seek new ways to help their clients, who are choosing a psychotherapeutic method, and who would like to learn more about existential analysis

Therapists of all types,

who would like to improve their professional skills by learning from the masters of psychotherapy

Psychiatrists,

who strive to integrate psychological knowledge into their practice in order to help their patients more effectively

Coaches,

who are interested in working deeper and in seeing more, with the help of psychological knowledge and techniques.

Graduate students of Psychology,

who have already started their practice and wish to see how psychotherapy works in real time or learn more about existential analysis

Why Existential Analysis?

This method refers to person-centered therapy, which aims to help an individual to experience free and responsible living of their life, where they feel themselves as co-creators.

The concept of "living with inner peace" plays an important role in the work with clients, as well as 4 main spheres of importance for a person to achieve clarity in order to have a fulfilling life.

How can you benefit from participating in the one-year program?

1

You will see how Alfried Laengle works at a demo session! It's something inaccessible that now becomes possible for all the participants!

2

You will practice your phenomenological perspective in order to observe the sessions from the content viewpoint rather than from the viewpoint of hypotheses and theories.

3

What methods will you master during the course?

The method of building courage (self-confidence)

Frequently a person hesitates over something not because of the challenge itself, but rather because they have excessive expectations of themselves.

The three steps of this method of working with insecurity can help the client clarify the situation, to find inner support, while also grounding themselves in reality, so that they can understand their own limits and then simply take the first step forward.

Additional steps here are to replay the situation of failure in mind, dereflexion ("take your attention off yourself, focus on the task"), appeal to the meaning beyond the moment, and others.

Psychological processing of guilt

The meaning of guilt from the existential analysis perspective is not to " exhaust" a person, but to lead them to a better quality of being.

The core of processing the guilt is to take a close and specific look at the circumstances and actions that caused the guilt (" Where was the mistake? Where exactly do I see the problem?"). At the same time you remain close to yourself and your intuition for what is right. And also find possible redemptions that can be very personal, individual, and private.

The most important step which the therapist helps the client to take is to let the guilt go, after doing everything possible.

In this same way, the existential therapist works with forgiveness.

Finding a personal position

Existential analysis emphasizes the freedom and responsibility of a person. No matter what happens, we can always at least develop an attitude toward it.

The Personal Position method serves to process feelings that make a person passive (like fear, depression, generalized assumptions). It also serves to activate the Person.

The core of this method is rigorous concretization and practical anchoring of decisions in everyday life.

Dealing with aggression

Although aggression is a non-personal automatic reaction, it is still important. It signals that something that matters to me is in danger.

The core of working with aggression in existential analysis is not about ‘reacting’ or ‘damping it down’. The aim is to make it triple-visioned, to see both the external reasons for aggression and the internal ones, precisely in terms of:

  • what exactly is going on, what is threatening me

  • my values, which have been hurt

  • possible, more appropriate reactions

Fear therapy method called ‘Gate of Death’

This is the very heart of anxiety therapy. The point is to imagine that the most terrible thing has happened and then stand next to it.

Anxiety can make fantasies scarier than reality. It is important to stay real and close to the client, without letting the feelings "swamp" them.

This method allows a person to find inner support and to activate their spiritual forces (Person forces) to stay true to themselves in any situation without being a victim, but rather a decision-maker.

Even when it is very scary.

Personal Existential Analysis (PEA) method

This is phenomenology at work - a basic method of working with a wide variety of client situations and issues.

It is a technique that allows a person to identify the essentials in the flood of experiences, to adopt a personal position toward them and to develop the most appropriate behavior for that situation and the corresponding person. It is the method most frequently used in therapy.

Biographical Existential Analysis (BEA)

This is a look at biography from a special perspective - from the significance of events for a particular client's life. The object of the analysis is "live" and "personal" in the chronicle: where and how did this person come to life? Where did they fail? What did a certain event mean to them - like the war, their parents' divorce, their brother's wedding?

The biographical method helps to find a different, unusual way to deal with problems and conversely, to find a support for the present day in the way this person handled challenges in the past. It is also used for work with trauma.

The method of building willpower

It is applicable in situations in which there is either no solution or this solution requires too much determination. A weak will is often rooted in a lack of values, so we carefully examine together with the person the things that really matter to them.

The method consists of five steps: from the factual level, through awakening of emotionality (what "attracts"), we gradually move to determination and realization.

The Method of Discovering Meaning, or the 4 W's

It is important in therapy of meaninglessness and/or when a person finds it difficult to choose one goal among many others.

The process of finding meaning as "the most valuable opportunity in a particular situation" is decomposed into four sequential steps.

The core of this method is to help the client to see and build their own hierarchy in the ocean of opportunities offered " right here and right now" by life, and dare to take the most valuable of them.

Some methods will be demonstrated more than once to show how they can be applied in helping with different diagnoses.
